Abstract:

Enjambment is a syntactic means of expression which has been used in poetry since antiquity. Its role in the rhythm, intonation, and the formation of the semantic nuances of the work is great and definitely reflects the poetic of individual style. Enjambment plays a special role in the art works of one of the most prominent Russian poets of the second half of the 20th century – V. A. Sosnora, whose texts are distinguished by the expressive metaphor, complicated imagery and semantics. His enjambments are often based on “vertical” syntactic relations and carry a wide functionality, which consists in the creation of new associative relations, including allusions, due to which the internal form of his art works is significantly enriched.
