Dear readers and authors of ‘Russkaya Rech’!

You have probably noticed that the journal underwent a few changes in 2019. Now it has a new cover, new sections, new editorial board and a new chief editor. Shall we expect any other changes?

‘Russkaya Rech’ has been published since January 1967. It is the only popular science academic journal about modern Russian language, the history of Russian language, Russian culture and literature. The magazine addresses a wide audience: philologists, historians, teachers, journalists and other readers fond of Russian language.

For more than 50 years there have been a number of great publications. Among the authors of the journal there are many celebrated specialists in Russian studies: V. V. Vinogradov, E. A. Zemskaya, S. I. Ozhegov, M. V. Panov, N. Y. Shvedova, D. N. Shmelev and many more.

Although we cherish traditions, we aspire to make the journal more dynamic and modern. We want it to reflect new notions and new areas of research, such as corpus linguistics, pragmatics and communication theory. We started with a print edition but in the short run we are to enhance the online version of the journal and make it more user-friendly. We are only at the beginning of the path. So, if you have any suggestions on improving the form or the content of the magazine, feel free to write us an e-mail.
