The paper treats the point of linguistic analysis applied to acts of law as a kind of text composed according to literary Russian standards. The interactions
between common words of different stylistic nature on the one hand and legal terms on the other are revealed basing on the material of modern Russian
Federation Penal Code articles. It is from the literary standards’ viewpoint that some cases of dubious term formation and stylistic inconsistency are commented
